Dianne Wolfer

Dianne Wolfer is an award-winning author of 25 books for children and teens, known for her powerful storytelling and themes of kindness, community, and resilience. Her latest novel, Scout and the Rescue Dogs, won the 2024 WA Premier’s Children’s Book of the Year and was shortlisted for the CBCA and WAYRBA. Dianne’s diverse work includes the acclaimed World War I ‘Light’ series, inspiring theatrical adaptations like The Lighthouse Girl Saga, and contemporary stories such as Mia and Skye Blackburn-Lang: Eating Bugs for the Planet. Her PhD research into animal characters in children’s literature led to The Dog with Seven Names and The Shark Caller, both award-nominated titles. Passionate about children's literature, she’s a SCBWI leader, literacy advocate, and Room to Read ambassador. Dianne lives on the south coast of Western Australia.
